Chapter 359 - 349: A New Mission
Wang Miaomiao was dressed in a black business suit, her three-centimeter heels clicking crisply with each step. Her luscious hair fell in large, wavy curls over her shoulders, bouncing with her every move. She carried a black briefcase on her arm, striding confidently into the government building.
"Professor Wang, you’re here." The receptionist immediately stood up straight when she saw her goddess, her eyes sparkling, greeting her with a smile.
"Xiao Qing, good morning! Wow, you look really stunning today, truly eye-catching." Wang Miaomiao greeted her with a smile, giving her a compliment. After all, Xiao Qing was wearing an outfit from the Xuelan brand, the latest summer collection.
Upon hearing this, Xiao Qing’s eyes shone even brighter, her face flushed with excitement. "Really? I just bought this outfit; it cost me half a month’s salary."
Wang Miaomiao examined her carefully and praised, "Is that so? Well, this outfit really suits you. You get what you pay for; it’s worth it."
There’s no girl who doesn’t love beauty. A sincere compliment always adds a bit of a vanity boost.
Xiao Qing was no exception. Especially since the praise came from her idol. Initially, she felt a bit guilty for spending half a month’s salary.
Now, she just felt delighted and thought of another dress she liked at the store, the one she didn’t buy because of the cost, silently vowing to get it next month.
Wang Miaomiao hadn’t expected her offhand compliment to gain Xuelan another devoted customer.
"Professor Wang, are you here to see Minister Jiang?" Xiao Qing blushed at the thought of Minister Jiang, adored by many women in the building, and he was actually Professor Wang’s husband. What a heavenly couple! So sweet, swoon!
Wang Miaomiao wasn’t bothered by the young girl’s infatuated look and replied with a smile, "Yes, I’m here to see him for something. Have you seen him leave today?"
"No, I’ve only seen him come in, not leave. He should be in the building."
Xiao Qing escorted her to the staircase, watching Wang Miaomiao’s retreating figure as she ascended, unable to help but sigh in admiration at the grace she could never hope to emulate.
Xiao Qing’s admiration for Wang Miaomiao had its reasons. She had been Wang Miaomiao’s student, having just graduated under her guidance a year earlier. Many admired Wang Miaomiao at school; Xiao Qing was just one among them, nothing extraordinary.
Wang Miaomiao made her way to the second floor, familiar with the building. After a few steps, someone greeted her.
The man, in his thirties, smiled as soon as he saw her. "Professor Wang, are you here to see Minister Jiang?"
Recognizing him as Jiang Yan’s secretary, Xiao Tang, Wang Miaomiao smiled slightly. "Yes, is he in?"
"He is, but he’s in a meeting. Please wait in his office for a while." Xiao Tang led her into the room.
"Please sit; I’ll get you some tea." Xiao Tang efficiently went to the break room, busying himself.
"Thank you very much." Wang Miaomiao, familiar with the place, naturally sat on the couch.
Xiao Tang quickly returned with a cup of tea, handing it to her, and Wang Miaomiao thanked him again.
"Please wait here; Minister Jiang should be out soon after the meeting."
"Okay, thank you. Don’t mind me, go ahead with your work."
After completing the polite exchange, Xiao Tang returned to his duties, leaving Wang Miaomiao leisurely sipping tea and reading magazines in the office lounge.
Jiang Yan finished his meeting, and Xiao Tang approached, taking his notes and materials, reporting Wang Miaomiao’s presence in his office.
Jiang Yan intended to discuss something with Vice Minister Liu but changed course toward his office upon hearing about her.
He wore a simple white shirt and black pants, looking fresh and clean. Yet, this attire accentuated his extraordinary aura of elegance.
"What brings you here today? No classes at school?" Jiang Yan entered, seeing his little wife sitting obediently on the couch, joining her.
Wang Miaomiao looked up at her husband’s voice, just in time to see him seated close. "Why, can’t I come if there’s nothing going on?"
Raising an eyebrow, Jiang Yan smiled, "Of course you can. I’d love for you to stay beside me every day. Why not transfer over as my secretary..."
They had joked about this in private before, and him bringing it up again hinted at his genuine interest in the idea.
However, Wang Miaomiao wasn’t inclined to. There’s a saying: husbands and wives shouldn’t work together, as prolonged proximity can be detrimental to both home and career, leading to endless torment and annoyance.
Modern companies even have prohibitions against office romances.
Still, one shouldn’t take things too literally; life is full of surprises, and you might face an unexpected turn of events.
Wang Miaomiao teasingly tilted his chin, playfully caressing his face, eyes brimming with humor. "Hmph, dreaming of me serving you? Keep dreaming."
A hint of darkness flashed in Jiang Yan’s eyes, as he lightly clenched a hand in his pocket.
He chuckled softly, almost whispering, "No need for you to serve me; I can serve you, and make sure you’re perfectly comfortable..."
His magnetic, enticing tones resonated in Wang Miaomiao’s ears, sending a tingling warmth through her heart, making her cheeks flush, her eyes misty...
Seeing her alluring expression, Jiang Yan wished he could have his way with her then and there.
Unfortunately... the circumstances weren’t right...
He subtly shifted his slightly stiff body, crossing one leg to disguise it, casually stretching with an arm on the back of the sofa behind her. From behind, it seemed like he had her in an intimate embrace.
Xiao Tang, returning with freshly brewed tea, awkwardly stood at the door, unsure of entering or retreating, finally deciding to quietly exit. He thought, surely Minister Jiang wouldn’t miss a cup of tea; after all, Professor Wang’s cup wasn’t empty... A couple shouldn’t distinguish so strictly, right?
Xiao Tang came and left, discreetly closing the office door behind him. It seemed he wouldn’t let anyone in for a while; he was perceptive indeed.
Jiang Yan was pleased; though facing away from the door, he couldn’t miss the subtle sounds.
With distractions gone and knowing no interruptions were likely, he thought perhaps he could take bolder actions. Seizing opportunities swiftly, maybe he could savor the moment a little more...
