Chapter 2 Lin Mo: Mei Shi! Have you had a one-night stand lately?
Chapter 2 Lin Mo: Mei Shi! Have you had a one-night stand lately?
With just a few glances, he already knew what was going on.
Without making a sound, he picked up the mask from the table and put it on, then put on a pair of medical rubber gloves.
Seeing Lin Mo's series of actions, the male student became even more flustered, and sweat began to bead on his forehead.
"Doctor, is it...is it very serious? Is it some kind of bad illness?"
Lin Mo, wearing a mask, spoke in a muffled voice, but his tone was steady, even carrying a hint of reassurance: "It's alright."
He waved his hand, looking calmly at the male student.
"Don't worry, let me ask you a few questions. Does your rash not feel noticeably itchy?"
The male student paused for a moment, then quickly nodded.
"Yes, yes, yes! It's not very itchy, but it feels a bit rough to the touch. I initially thought it was an allergic reaction, so I took loratadine, but it didn't help at all."
The comments section went on a frenzy again.
"What the hell is this 'plum blossom' thing??"
"Is the anchor talking about Mei Shi? Does he mean to say 'nothing'?"
"Did you guys notice the anchor's tone?! It's Mei! It's Mei!"
"Holy shit Holy shit Holy shit"
"Is anyone familiar with this? What does 'mei shi' mean? Does the host mean it's nothing?"
"I'm a medical student, I already know what it is."
"I'm starting to get scared..."
Seeing Lin Mo's series of actions, the male student panicked even more: "School doctor... is this... not very serious?"
"Don't be nervous, let me ask you a few questions first." Lin Mo's voice was muffled through his mask, but his tone was very steady.
The comments section has already started flooded with messages.
"Here they come, the school doctor is starting the consultations."
"She's wearing gloves! This rash is definitely not simple."
"It looks scary, could it be an infectious disease?"
"Can any medical students explain what this is?"
Lin Mo ignored the comments and focused his gaze on the male student's face: "When did this rash start appearing?"
The male student scratched his head and thought for a moment: "About... half a month ago."
"Two weeks ago."
Lin Mo repeated it.
"Where did it first grow?"
"I had a few red bumps on my stomach at first, but I didn't pay much attention to them."
The male student's voice trailed off as he spoke.
"Later, more and more of them appeared, covering my arms, neck, and thighs. My roommates saw them and asked me what happened."
Lin Mo nodded and continued to ask questions.
"Did you eat anything you don't usually eat about two weeks ago? Like seafood or mangoes? Or did you switch to a new shower gel or laundry detergent?"
No, no.
The male student shook his head repeatedly, "I eat in the cafeteria, I haven't used anything new."
"No history of allergies during seasonal changes?"
"Never. My skin has always been fine."
Lin Mo hummed in agreement, tapped the table lightly with his fingers, and asked, "Does it itch?"
"It's not very itchy, it just feels a bit rough to the touch, and occasionally there's a slight prickling sensation, but it's definitely not itchy."
The male student looked confused as he finished speaking.
"At first I thought it was just a common allergy, so I bought loratadine from the pharmacy and took it for two days, but it didn't help at all. Then I wondered if it was eczema, so I applied some dermatitis cream, but that didn't work either."
"Yes, the allergy medication isn't working, and neither is the steroid cream."
Lin Mo went through the two pieces of information in his mind, and felt even more confident.
He then asked, "Besides the rash, have you had any other discomfort lately? Like headaches, feeling weak, or anything like that?"
"No, I play ball every day, so my stamina is excellent."
The male student puffed out his chest as he said this, "I played basketball for two hours yesterday."
"Oh right, you're wearing a basketball uniform, did you just finish playing basketball?"
"Yes, I just got vaccinated. I didn't want to come, but when I got back to my dorm and took off my clothes, I saw that I had several more bumps on my arm, which scared me so much that I ran over here."
Lin Mo glanced at his rash again, then casually changed the subject.
Have you had a fever recently? Even a low-grade fever?
The male student paused for a moment, glanced to the upper left corner, and thought for a while.
"Last week... I think I had a slight cold, my temperature was 37.8 degrees Celsius. I thought it was just a common cold, and it subsided after taking two packets of Banlangen granules."
"Low-grade fever, 37.8 degrees Celsius."
Lin Mo silently made a mental note of it.
"Does your throat hurt? Do you feel any discomfort in your throat?"
The male student's expression changed slightly, and he subconsciously touched his neck.
"It hurts a little, but not badly. It just feels like there's something in my mouth when I swallow, but I didn't think much of it."
The more Lin Mo listened, the more he felt it made sense.
Fever and sore throat came first, followed by rash; the chronological order is correct.
The rash is not itchy, and it started on the torso and spread to the limbs. Antihistamines and steroid creams are ineffective.
He leaned forward slightly, looked into the male student's eyes, and lowered his voice.
"Excuse me, I have a more personal question for you. Don't be shy, this is a medical consultation, just answer truthfully."
The male student became a little nervous from his tone and sat up straighter.
"Please ask."
"Have you had any unsafe sexual contact in the past month or two?"
The moment this question was asked, the live chat exploded.
Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap!
"Here comes the soul-searching interrogation!"
"School doctor, aren't you being a bit too direct?"
"Unsafe sexual contact??? I think I know what disease it is now."
"This is it, this is the end of it, this is how it's going."
"The school doctor's question really caught me off guard."
"Where's the guy who was talking about plums earlier? Come out and say something."
The male student's face turned red instantly.
The redness spread from her neck to the base of her ears, making the rashes appear even redder.
His eyes began to dart around, first looking at the ceiling, then the floor, then out the window, but he dared not look at Lin Mo.
"No, no, no."
He waved his hands repeatedly, his voice rising a half-octave.
"How could such a thing happen? I'm just an ordinary college student—"
"classmate."
Lin Mo interrupted him calmly, looking at him through his glasses, unhurried and composed.
"I told you, this is a medical appointment. You don't need to be nervous or embarrassed. I'm the school doctor, not from the academic affairs office, and I'm not your counselor. What you tell me won't leave this room, but you have to tell me the truth, otherwise I can't diagnose your condition."
The male student opened his mouth, then closed it again.
He started rubbing his knees, then after a couple of rubs, he gripped his trouser leg tightly with his fingers, his cheeks flushed red, and his lips moved several times but he couldn't make a sound.
The viewers in the live chat were getting anxious.
"Say it, my brother!"
"That reaction is way too obvious."
"Hilarious, his face is as red as a monkey's bottom."
"No need to ask anymore, the answer is written all over your face."
"The school doctor is too intimidating; who can stand that?"
"This is a live broadcast, bro. What you said will be known to the whole country."
Lin Mo didn't urge him, but leaned back in his chair, crossed his arms, and quietly watched him.
This silent waiting is more unbearable than pressing for answers.
The male student finally couldn't hold back any longer. He lowered his head and whispered, his voice barely audible, "Just... just last month..."
"What happened last month?" Lin Mo asked.
"It happened once last month."
The male student's head was almost buried in his chest.
