Chapter 65 Two Kinds of Fish
Chapter 65 Two Kinds of Fish
For the rest of the journey, everyone seemed to have better luck. The two vehicles did not get stuck again and arrived at their destination smoothly.
This is an open space near the foot of a mountain. Not far away, beneath two cliffs hundreds of meters high, a clear, green, winding stream flows down, passing directly in front of where they parked.
Xiao Kai stopped there, as did the three men's SUV.
"Handsome, I forgot to ask earlier, what's your name?"
Just as Xiao Kai got out of the car to take out his fishing gear from the trunk, the other three also got out. As soon as they got out, the girl in the lead asked Xiao Kai a question.
"Xiao Kai!"
Xiao Kai glanced at the other person and answered without much thought.
"Xiao Kai? My name is Xu Lili, and these two are my companions, Xu Qing and Gao Wen. It's nice to meet you!" the girl introduced herself with a smile.
The two immediately greeted Xiao Kai.
Upon hearing this, Xiao Kai greeted them with a "Hello!"
But his hands continued moving.
He had wasted too much time getting here and was already quite impatient, so he didn't have much time to chat with strangers right now.
Seeing that Xiao Kai was still organizing his fishing gear and didn't seem to want to talk to them much, the girl also lost interest in continuing the conversation and said to Xiao Kai, "Then you go ahead with your work, we'll talk later!"
After saying that, he left with his assistant.
Seeing this, Xiao Kai didn't say anything and continued what he was doing.
He made thorough preparations for fishing here, with all kinds of bait readily available.
According to what I learned from the angler yesterday, the most common fish species in this tributary are still the same few freshwater fish, such as crucian carp, common carp, grass carp, redtail carp, and greentail carp.
However, occasionally a few rare freshwater fish may be mixed in.
Among them, the most famous are the Green Bamboo Carp and the Green Dragon Stick.
These two types of fish are among the rarest and most common to encounter in this river.
Although they are available in the market, the quantity is much smaller compared to other types of fish, and most of them are farmed.
Wild green bamboo carp and green dragon stick are extremely rare to find on the market.
If you happen to come across one or two, they'll be snapped up very quickly.
Like the wild mandarin fish he caught in the Dabang River before, these are rare and exquisite catches.
Of course, in terms of price, these two types of fish are less expensive than mandarin fish, especially the larger ones, but they are still much more expensive than other common types of fish.
For example, the green bamboo carp is still a rare species even in Qianzhou, a region with abundant water resources. Generally speaking, farmed green bamboo carp are priced at 30 to 40 yuan per kilogram, while wild ones are generally priced at over 100 yuan per kilogram.
Unlike the mandarin fish, this fish is difficult to sell for a high price unless it weighs at least ten or twenty kilograms.
Fortunately, it doesn't grow as slowly as the mandarin fish, and it's common to find fish weighing over five or six pounds. Therefore, its price is not as exaggerated as that of the mandarin fish in the average individual price range.
As for the Green Dragon Stick, that's even less likely. These fish are considered large if they weigh two or three pounds or more, let alone more than ten pounds. It's practically impossible to find one.
Compared to other fish species, it is much better.
Xiao Kai's purpose for this trip was naturally not those common fish, but these two kinds of fish.
Soon, Xiao Kai had prepared the things he would be using.
Since the parking spot was 20 to 30 meters from the riverbank, Xiao Kai did not take all his fishing rods with him in order to reduce the weight. Instead, he only took a 6.3-meter Walton rod and a 4.5-meter lightweight fishing rod.
Everything else remains the same.
Before long, Xiao Kai arrived at the riverbank.
After a brief observation, he began preparing to fish in a flat area relatively close to the shore.
On the other side, after saying goodbye to Xiao Kai, Xu Lili led two companions towards the upper reaches of the river further away.
Since this was the end of the road, they had to continue on foot.
As a blogger with 50 followers on Douyin, Xu Lili and her team's purpose for this trip was to take a series of photos at a small waterfall upstream of this tributary.
Logically speaking, they shouldn't be here at this time of year, especially during the Lunar New Year.
But there was nothing she could do; she had promised her fans before the new year that she would come, but she had been having too much fun and forgot about it.
With the release date promised to her fans just two days away, she rushed here with two assistants to film the movie, only to find herself stuck on the road.
If they hadn't met Xiao Kai, it's hard to say whether they could have returned safely, let alone filmed.
Even if they are eventually rescued, it will definitely delay their filming trip.
"Sister Lili, why were you so nice to me just now? I didn't think that Xiao Kai had anything to do with me at all. He didn't even acknowledge me when I greeted him. That was so rude!"
Walking along the path to the waterfall, the girl named Xu Qing was clearly in low spirits, and couldn't help but mutter complaints.
"Hehe, don't be so stingy. He even helped us before. Besides, look at all that fishing gear in his car, you can tell he's busy fishing and doesn't have time to talk to you!"
That being said, Xu Lili's expression was no better than that of the girl named Xu Qing, even though she remembered Xiao Kai's dismissive attitude earlier.
After all, she's a blogger with hundreds of thousands of followers, and she's usually fawned over wherever she goes. When did she start to be so neglected?
If Xiao Kai hadn't saved them just now, to be honest, she wouldn't have been very willing to have much interaction with him.
"Pshaw, fishing, huh? I bet he's the kind of guy who's bad at fishing but loves to play around. All that stuff in the car is new; he's probably a complete newbie. Believe me, he probably won't have caught a single fish by the time we get back!"
Hearing their conversation, the boy named Gao Wen couldn't help but speak, his expression seemingly somewhat displeased.
"Yes, we've been to this river several times before, and none of those dark-skinned fishermen have ever caught a fish. What could Xiao Kai possibly catch!"
Upon hearing Gao Wen's words, Xu Qing immediately echoed him.
"You can't judge a book by its cover! Alright, let's not talk about others behind their backs. You can dislike them, but it's wrong to speak ill of them behind their backs!" Xu Lili tapped the other person on the head and said with a smile.
"I know, I only decided to get to know him because he's not bad-looking. It's his fault for being so cold-hearted!" Xu Lili pouted.
Upon hearing this, Gao Wen wanted to say something, but Xu Lili stopped him with a look.
Just then, the road ahead suddenly opened up, and a white waterfall appeared in the valley not far away, with a damp mist in the air hitting us.
"Look, we're here! Let's get ready to film quickly so we can go back sooner. It's so cold outside!"
......
Back on this side of the river, just as Xu Lili and the others arrived at the valley with the waterfall, Xiao Kai had already started fishing.
Thanks to the aperture, Xiao Kai opened for business in less than ten minutes.
