Chapter 71. The Young Lady's Kiss
Chapter 71. The Young Lady's Kiss
After an hour of ballroom dancing, it was almost 11 o'clock, and guests began to leave one after another.
As the young lady's fiancé, Kaoru bid farewell to the unfamiliar guests, shook hands with each of them, and watched as they were picked up by luxury cars one after another.
Exhausted, Xun slumped down on the steps after the last guest left, pulled off her cumbersome tie, and unbuttoned her shirt.
He wasn't used to wearing leather shoes, and coupled with his constant ballroom dancing, his toes ached. His joints were like unmaintained machines, making a series of noises with the slightest friction.
He was exhausted and sleepy, and all he wanted to do was go home, wash up, and go to sleep.
"Hoshino-kun, you've worked so hard today."
As he sat down to rest on the steps, Mizukami handed him a glass containing an unknown liquid.
"What is this?"
"Honey water can help with hangovers."
Xun took the honey water she was offered, drank most of it, and handed the remaining half cup back.
It was already late, and the trees in the courtyard were swaying incessantly in the wind. Whether it was the honey water that had an effect or the drop in temperature, Kaoru felt her mind become much clearer.
"Can we go back now?"
It's so late, Rin should be asleep by now.
I wonder how her health is.
Xun was very worried and just wanted to go home as soon as possible.
"You'll have to wait a bit; your father wants to see you."
Standing behind her, Mizukami Orina squeezed out these words in a completely emotionless voice.
"Oh... okay."
Kaoru wasn't ready to meet her future father-in-law so soon.
However... it's only a matter of time.
He is full of confidence in himself and believes that he will definitely have a place in the future of the Mikami family.
"What kind of person is Mizukami's father?"
Feeling a bit bored, Kaoru made room for the young lady to sit there as well.
Seeing the steps that had been stepped on by many people, Mizukami frowned and decided to continue standing there.
"If I had to say, my father... was a man without much emotion."
"A person without any feelings? What do you mean?"
Xun didn't understand what she was saying.
"When I was in kindergarten, I would be severely scolded by my father for making mistakes, and sometimes I would be beaten. Every time the servants saw the dense wounds on my body, they would be so surprised that they would be speechless. My relatives criticized my father for this, but he had no intention of listening to them and even drove away all those who spoke up for me."
The young lady spoke in a very calm tone, as if she were just talking about something insignificant.
On her expressionless face, Kaoru sensed a faint sadness.
"At first, I would feel pain and cry out, hiding behind the servants. But after a while, I became completely numb. My body felt numb and I couldn't feel any pain at all. I couldn't even cry anymore."
"My father made me who I am today."
Shui Shang sat silently to the side, hugging his knees, his pale purple pupils staring at the ground beneath his feet.
A subtle sadness permeated her eyes.
Xun didn't know how to comfort her, so she tentatively reached out her right hand and placed it on her shoulder.
The young lady's body began to tremble uncontrollably, and then Kaoru heard faint sobs.
When they got back to the car, Mizukami fell asleep, her head resting on Kaoru's shoulder, her wet eyelashes showing faint traces of moisture.
The young lady cried herself to sleep... Kaoru didn't want to wake her, so she carried her to the back seat of the car.
As a result, the young lady still did not wake up. According to the captain of the armed helicopter, she had been dealing with various busy tasks since morning and did not even have time for a nap.
"Mr. Hoshino, I will take you to see the master later, and then send you back."
The helicopter captain gripped the steering wheel. Perhaps because they were driving into the suburbs, there were no lights around, so Xun couldn't see the expression on his face.
"Okay, please."
Kaoru turned on her phone, which showed "No Signal." It seemed that something could block electronic devices nearby, rendering her smartphone unusable.
He put down his phone, and the young lady next to him seemed to be having a nightmare. She tightened her grip on his shoulder with her right hand and made indistinct sounds.
Xun didn't know what to do, so he tentatively took her hand. Feeling the warmth of his body, the young lady, who had just been in pain, looked much better.
The car drove for a long time in the suburbs where the road was poorly visible.
In the boundless darkness, a searchlight-like light suddenly shone. My eyes had already adjusted to the darkness, and I squinted as I saw the car drive into a mansion surrounded by high walls.
He stopped in front of a magnificent building, and the young lady who was nestled on his shoulder woke up.
"Young Miss, we're home."
The helicopter captain sitting in front gave a reminder.
Mizukami looked away and glanced at Kaoru's profile, as if she didn't want him to leave like that, and shifted all her weight onto his shoulder.
"Hoshino-kun, carry me inside, I'll tell you my bedroom."
"I understand... I understand."
Kaoru supported her knees with one hand and lifted her back with the other. The young lady obediently wrapped her arms around his neck and buried her face in his chest.
Upon entering one of the mansions, he found it unusually quiet. Kaoru walked up the carpeted stairs, navigating the building, which was so large that he could easily get lost.
We arrived at the door of one of the bedrooms on the second floor.
The door opened with a gentle push, and the lights inside seemed to be motion-activated, turning on without a switch.
In this bedroom, which is the size of several tea rooms, there is a double bed that can only be seen in luxury hotels.
Arriving at the ridiculously large double bed, Kaoru placed the young lady in his arms onto the bed. Just as he was about to turn and leave, the hands wrapped around his neck suddenly tightened their grip.
Caught off guard, he pounced on the young lady beneath him in a superior position.
"Hoshino-kun, tell me what it feels like to kiss. I've always been curious about it."
At this distance... I can clearly see another version of myself reflected in the young lady's eyes.
"To be honest, there's nothing particularly noticeable about it, well, roughly speaking..."
"So verbose."
Shui Shang grabbed his tie with his right hand.
Then, under Kaoru's astonished gaze...
Their lips met.
The electrifyingly soft touch was clearly felt.
It's unclear how much time has passed; it might have been just a few seconds, or it might have been longer.
The moment their lips parted, the elongated silver thread in mid-air caught everyone's attention.
"As expected... Hoshino-kun smells awful."
"However... the kissing felt surprisingly good."
She grabbed his tie tightly and kissed him again.
That passionate kiss seemed to want to completely take over everything he owned.
Xun felt like she couldn't breathe.
