Chapter 6 Rebirth of the Brainstorming Management Bureau
Chapter 6 Rebirth of the Brainstorming Management Bureau
Just as Xu Lun was bewildered.
The mysterious woman sitting by the wall suddenly clapped her hands.
The sudden sound pulled his attention back from his thoughts to the present moment.
"Alright, please cooperate. I'll explain what this place is to you after we've finished our business."
The woman picked up a folder from the table next to her and placed it on her lap.
She then opened the folder, took out a photo, and showed it to Xu Lun:
"You've probably seen this person before, right? Her name is Uesugi Masami, and she's one of our colleagues."
Xu Lun was slightly taken aback at first, then his expression changed as he looked at the photo the woman had taken out; it seemed to be an ID photo.
The woman in the photo was none other than the pink-haired Japanese girl he had met before...
Forget it.
Xu Lun coughed twice, avoiding the other person's gaze, paused for a moment, and then said:
"Yes, I have seen it."
"Where have I seen you before?" the woman immediately asked.
Xu Lun lowered his head, thought carefully for a moment, and said:
"It should be near Lane 7, Jiefang Road... in an old residential area close to the Tiantian Convenience Store... I forgot the name of the residential area..."
The woman listened and remained silent.
She actually knew the place. By checking the nearby surveillance footage, she saw Yamei's figure and thus roughly determined the location where the two met.
The reason for asking Xu Lun this question was simply to test whether he would answer truthfully.
After all, this person had crossed paths with Yamei, and the place where the two met was not covered by surveillance cameras, so she didn't know what happened at the scene and could only guess.
Whether the two actually communicated or whether Yami revealed any information to him remains unknown.
"Do you know her?" the woman continued to ask.
Xu Lun quickly shook his head: "I don't know her at all, and I can't understand a word she says."
The woman thought for a moment, then asked, "Did she give you anything?"
Xu Lun was slightly taken aback. Was there even a need to ask?
He simply raised his left hand, revealing the mysterious bracelet on his wrist.
"This is it. She put it on me out of nowhere, and I had no idea what it was for."
Then I tried to call her back, but she ran off on her own.
After listening, the woman pondered for a moment, quickly analyzing the other person's answer in her mind, trying to see if there were any logical flaws in it.
After a moment, seemingly noticing anything amiss, she continued to ask:
"You mean she left this with you and then ran away, is that right?"
Xu Lun waved his hand and corrected, "She didn't leave this to me; instead, she slipped it onto my wrist when I wasn't looking. I have no idea what she meant!"
"And then?" the woman asked.
Xu Lun replied without hesitation, "Then I got on my bike and chased after her. But I couldn't catch up; once I got out of the alley, I couldn't see her anymore."
The woman thought for a moment and then said, "What's next?"
No.
Xu Lun was getting annoyed by the questions. What was going on? He was clearly the victim, but the other party was interrogating him like a criminal, asking him all sorts of questions.
"Where exactly is this place?" Xu Lun couldn't help but ask.
The woman was looking down at the folder on her lap, which seemed to contain a lot of information.
After a moment, she raised her head, stared into Xu Lun's eyes, and said:
Didn't I just tell you?
Just think of this place as a hospital.
When we found you, you were already in a coma, so we brought you here and gave you a detailed medical examination and health assessment.
Fortunately, you are not seriously injured.
Is it nothing serious?
Upon hearing this, Xu Lun couldn't help but feel suspicious:
Logically speaking, he should be fine.
At least in his fragmented memory, his left hand, along with the bracelet, was "blown away".
But now, they are back in their original positions, perfectly intact.
It was as if they had never been injured.
Moreover, judging from the mysterious woman's statement, it seems that when they found her, she was only unconscious, her left hand was still there, and there was nothing obviously abnormal on the outside.
That's really strange...
Xu Lun was still pondering over there.
Seeing that he hadn't responded for a while, the mysterious woman couldn't help but ask:
"What? You don't believe me?"
Xu Lun snapped out of his daze, first glancing at the other person, then shifting his gaze to the enormous porthole to her left rear, pointing directly at the vast sea of stars outside, and said:
"You call this a hospital?"
The woman glanced back, then smiled without saying a word.
Then she turned back, brushed her bangs aside, and said:
"Okay, actually this is inside the Administration Bureau."
If you still want to ask what the "Management Bureau" is, as I said before, I'll explain that after I've finished dealing with important matters.
Administration Bureau?
Xu Lun frowned upon hearing the name.
This organization seems to be quite mysterious.
However, considering those shadowy monsters, it's not hard to understand that this so-called Management Bureau is probably a special organization or department specifically responsible for handling such supernatural events...
Xu Lun seemed to have thought of something and asked in confusion:
"Logically speaking, it shouldn't be difficult for your management bureau to access surveillance footage, right?"
There are so many security cameras along the street, haven't you noticed anything? Why do you keep asking me?
I don't even understand my own situation right now. I don't know why your colleague contacted me.
I was about to ride off when she suddenly appeared like a ghost, grabbed my hand, and startled me.
Then, before I knew it, this thing was on me, and...and...”
Xu Lun hesitated for a moment, unsure how to describe it.
The woman noticed this keenly and asked warily, "What else?"
Xu Lun took a deep breath and said truthfully, "I was also being chased by those shadowy figures."
After he finished speaking, he glanced up at the woman's reaction.
The other person had no expression; there was neither surprise nor confusion in their eyes.
She most likely knows what those shadowy figures are.
Seeing that Xu Lun was observing her, the woman seemed to have realized this as well, and explained:
"Those shadowy monsters you mentioned did not appear in the surveillance footage."
Or rather, even if they appeared, they weren't captured by the surveillance footage.
Could you be more specific? What kind of shadowy figure was it?
Xu Lun was speechless. He had already said it was a shadowy figure, so what else could it be?
Despite his complaints, he immediately recalled the events and then explained:
"They are probably humanoid, and there are a lot of them. When they appear, the surrounding lights start to flicker, as if they are malfunctioning."
Electromagnetic interference?
The woman was making guesses in her mind.
