Chapter 1040: From Now On, I’ll Work on Puzzles with You
Although Miles Sterling doesn’t understand painting, he is familiar with art supplies.Because when he used to not allow Vanessa Sterling to go out, he was the one who would buy these things for her.
Thinking back on this, he still felt guilty in his heart.
But Vanessa seemed to have already forgotten, as she just seriously lowered her head and picked out items from the shelves.
As they strolled around, they reached the shelves where puzzles were displayed.
When Miles saw the puzzles, memories from the past came flooding back.
Afraid they would trigger bad memories for Vanessa, he used his body to unobtrusively block her view as they passed by.
However, Vanessa stopped in front of the shelves, reached out, picked up a box of puzzles from the front, and muttered to herself, "A new edition, huh."
Miles was momentarily stunned, pursed his lips, and asked her, "Do you still have puzzles?"
Vanessa nodded and smiled gently, saying, "I’ve bought the whole series. Sometimes when I lack inspiration and feel restless, doing puzzles helps me calm down."
Miles hesitated but didn’t say anything more.
His impression of puzzles was Vanessa’s thin back sitting by the bay window, passing the time with puzzles.
Miles took a deep breath, reached out to take the puzzle from Vanessa’s hand, put it into the shopping cart he was pushing, and said to her, "I’ll do puzzles with you from now on."
Vanessa was stunned for a moment, then blushed and turned her head to look at the shelves, "...Okay."
It was already past twelve when they finished shopping.
When they went out, Vanessa thought the distance was short, so there wasn’t a need to drive.
Now, seeing Miles carrying two large bags, she felt a bit guilty: "Let me carry some."
"No need, they’re not heavy."
In the past, when Vanessa was alone, she also carried things this heavy. She managed to drag them home, but it was extremely strenuous.
But seeing Miles carrying them now, he indeed looked very relaxed, even leisurely discussed lunch with her.
When they returned to the shop, the teachers were all gathered around the dining table on the first floor for lunch.
The group was originally chatting quietly about something, and then when someone noticed Miles and Vanessa appear at the door, everyone immediately stopped their gossiping and turned their gaze towards the entrance.
Vanessa froze at the door under everyone’s gaze, thinking something was wrong. She looked inside the room, confirmed there was nothing unusual, and then tentatively stepped inside and asked them, "What’s going on with you all?"
One of the slightly older teachers stood up and said, "Teacher Sterling, have you eaten? Care to join us?"
Before Vanessa could answer, the calligraphy teacher teased, "Teacher Sterling is busy dating, how could she possibly eat with us? Mr. Warren, you really don’t know how to read the room."
"Teacher Sterling, are you just leaving the handsome guy standing at the door? Aren’t you going to introduce him to us?"
Everyone joined in jokingly, leaving Vanessa a bit overwhelmed.
She pointed to the empty space next to the reception desk and said to Miles, "You can put the stuff here."
After Miles did so, Vanessa grabbed his arm and brought him in front of the group of gossiping women, introducing him with a red face, "...His name is Miles Sterling."
Everyone had a knowing smile, except for Yvonne, who cursed under her breath and took a big mouthful of her meal.
The calligraphy teacher further inquired, "What’s your relationship? Such a handsome guy can’t be just here to carry goods, right?"
Vanessa glanced sideways at Miles, pursing her lips a bit shy to speak.
Miles smiled and said openly, "I’m Vanessa’s new boyfriend."
