Chapter 750 - 721: Love Across Parallel Worlds [043]
Simon Forrester put the pink luggage bag in the back seat, and after fastening the seatbelt, he immediately started the car.The deep space gray SUV merged into the main road traffic.
Sienna Thorne slightly turned her body to observe Simon Forrester’s expression: "How are you feeling this morning? Any headaches or dizziness?"
The man’s eyebrows and eyes were concealed by sunglasses, his well-shaped lips curved into a smile: "No, I’m feeling perfectly normal."
"You seem remarkably fine for someone hungover," Sienna leaned closer, "Let me see if there’s any smell of alcohol."
She sniffed vigorously a few times: "Strange, there’s really no alcohol smell, and it smells nice. Did you use perfume?"
"No, it might be the scent of skincare products or laundry detergent."
Sienna, not entirely pleased, pursed her lips: "This scent is too attractive, it’s easy to enchant girls."
"Is that so? Then I’ll switch to a scent-free brand."
Sienna was satisfied, pursing her lips with a sneaky smile. After a moment, she said, "When I’m not around, you can use the scentless one. But when we meet over the weekend, use this one."
"Alright."
While waiting at a red light, Simon Forrester took out a paper bag from the back seat and handed it to her: "We’ll probably reach South Bay by twelve, have some snacks first."
"What did you buy?" She opened the paper bag, "Oh, it’s snacks from the ’Guardian Temple’! How did you know I like their pastries?"
"The other day at my place, I heard you passionately talking about their snacks with my grandpa," Simon Forrester laughed, "When I went to buy them, the line was full of elderly people. Why would a young girl like you enjoy such pastries?"
Sienna laughed and put on disposable gloves: "When I was little, my grandma often took me to have breakfast there, I guess it’s sentimental."
She carefully unwrapped the small bags inside the big paper bag, finding sugar ears, pea yellow cakes, cream fried cakes, and a bottle of warm milk.
"Did you have breakfast?" She picked up a piece of sugar ear and took a gentle bite, the sweet and crispy sensation filled her heart instantly.
The green light appeared, Simon Forrester’s gaze returned to the road: "I had some milk."
"Then you should have some too." She held the sugar ear she had bitten mostly and brought it to his lips, where he bit the part she had bitten.
The two of them quickly finished the whole bag of snacks, sharing bites.
The sweetness uplifted their mood, Sienna happily removed the disposable gloves, took out the milk, and then neatly packed the used gloves and empty bags to dispose of later.
She twisted open the milk and took a sip, then habitually held it to Simon Forrester’s lips, who tilted his head back while she tilted the milk to feed him a large gulp.
As she screwed the lid back on, she suddenly realized she had just shared saliva with Simon Forrester... Her face instantly grew hot and red, and she remained silent.
Noticing her sudden silence, Simon Forrester turned his head to glance at her: "Did everything go smoothly when you left this morning?"
"Hmm?" She snapped back from her thoughts, "It went smoothly. I told my parents I was taking a cab to the train station to meet Maeve."
"That’s good. If possible, I hope to formally visit your home this Lunar New Year, so next time we travel, we won’t have to sneak around like this."
Sienna chuckled: "A visit is definitely possible..." But the possibility of openly traveling next time is uncertain.
Simon Forrester wasn’t aware of her thoughts, and the topic soon changed.
The two chatted all the way until they arrived at South Bay City at noon.
Having arranged a property inspection with the agent at two-thirty in the afternoon, they had two hours in between, which they used for lunch in South Bay City Center.
South Bay is a county-level city under Z City, surrounded by mountains. Before a direct highway was built, transportation was inconvenient, so there was no industrial development here. But in recent years, with the rise of Brimfield’s surrounding tourism craze, South Bay’s tourism industry flourished, keeping the city quite natural, with few high-rises. The national highways are flanked by low residential houses, and even the city center only has a few three to five-story old buildings.
The imposing SUV cautiously navigated through the crowded two-lane road and eventually found a rustic restaurant with a low-key facade.
Despite being small, the place was clean, and the food was fresh and delicious, leaving Sienna very satisfied.
After lunch and seeing that it was almost time, they headed to the place agreed with the agent.
Beyond the mountains, a different scenery unfolded.
The Eternal Flower Sea resembled vibrant brocade, vast and tidal; clusters of midsummer carnations and snapdragons exhibited varying colors, adorning the mountain lakes. At the end of the flower sea stood a deep blue natural lake.
The car stopped by the lake, and as soon as Sienna and Simon Forrester got out, two neatly dressed young men holding folders approached: "Ms. Thorne?"
Sienna nodded: "Yes, we’re here on behalf of Ms. Lester to inspect the land."
"Alright, we’ll first move to a higher ground to view the complete terrain. Please follow us to the car."
The agents drove them to a nearby hillside. The four got out, and the agent handed Sienna the terrain map and plans, which she promptly passed to Simon Forrester.
While Simon Forrester conversed with the agent, she took photos to send to Maeve. Later, the agent took them for an on-site inspection, and they had stayed until evening.
In the deep winter, darkness fell early; by five-thirty, the night had descended.
While Simon Forrester was still discussing with the agent, Sienna used her phone to capture some night photos.
Due to the wide terrain, apart from the expanse of flower seas and the natural lake, there were no other obstructions, making the starry sky appear vast and profound. The natural lake, blue by day and orange at dusk, turned deep blue at night under the cover of darkness. A gentle breeze created glimmers on the lake surface, resembling premium blue diamonds, mysterious and alluring.
If a guesthouse were to be built by the lake, watching the lake’s color transform throughout a day would offer a fascinating experience.
Sienna found herself falling in love with the place.
Once Simon Forrester finished talking, the agents greeted them and departed.
Simon Forrester walked to the lakeside, looked around, and laughed: "The price is as I guessed—around ten million. If your friend doesn’t want this plot, we’ll take it."
Sienna asked: "Is there no way to negotiate? Getting it for eighty percent of the price would be nice."
Simon Forrester laughed and placed his arm around her shoulder as they headed back to the car: "This land is collectively owned, negotiating ten or twenty thousand is possible, but not two million."
Sienna sighed: "Got it. Once we’re back in the car, I’ll call Maeve to see what she plans."
"Alright." Simon Forrester tightened his hold on her shoulder, "We’ve been busy all afternoon; must be starving. Let’s go have dinner, and then find a hotel."
