Chapter 1088: Why Are You Keeping Your Distance?
While Scarlett Yates was still in a state of shock, Matthew Saxon turned around, grabbed the quilt from the bed, and tossed it onto her with a commanding tone: "Cover up!"Scarlett Yates raised her head in surprise.
Was he caring about her?
Matthew Saxon became a bit restless under her gaze, frowned, and spoke harshly, "Why are you looking at me like that? From now on, you must sleep in bed for eight hours before getting up, not a minute less."
Scarlett Yates looked at him in a daze, and suddenly felt a sourness in her heart, almost bringing her to tears.
Only this time, the reason she wanted to cry wasn’t because she was sad inside.
He still cared about her.
Even after he was convinced she cheated, he still cared about her.
She thought he would never be good to her again; she thought it was over between them.
Afraid that she might not be able to hold back her tears in front of him, she quickly lowered her eyes, buried her head, pulled the quilt over her frozen body, and slowly lay down.
She pulled the quilt up to her neck, leaving only her head out, and turned over to face away from him after lying down.
Since she didn’t know how to face him, she decided not to face him at all.
Shortly after she lay down, she felt the space beside her sink in.
Matthew Saxon had taken off his clothes and lay down beside her, tugging at the quilt tightly wrapped around her: "Scarlett Yates, there’s only one quilt. Even though the room has heating, my body isn’t well enough to not need a cover."
Even with her back to him, Scarlett Yates could imagine his expressionless face as he said this.
She shifted her body, moving half a meter to the other side of the bed, and loosened the quilt around her.
Matthew Saxon lifted a corner and slipped in.
The room’s temperature continued to rise, and his unique yet familiar scent occasionally drifted to Scarlett Yates’ nose, stirring chaos in her heart.
What on earth did Matthew Saxon mean?
A few hours ago, his attitude was terrible towards her, so harsh and indifferent without a trace of gentleness.
Yet a few hours later, his attitude seemed to have changed.
Though he still wore a cold face and his tone was still chilly, his behavior was clearly not as indifferent as before.
Did he go to the study for a few hours and slowly calm down, starting to believe what she said?
While Scarlett Yates was still lost in her thoughts, behind her, Matthew Saxon frowned and his expression turned unpleasant seeing how far she was, half a meter away.
Stretching his long arm, he wrapped it around her waist, pulling her and the quilt back to him.
"Scarlett Yates, why are you staying so far away? Afraid I’ll eat you?"
He held her in his arms like the night before, his chin resting on the top of her head, his warm breath scattered over her forehead with each breath.
His hand lay across her waist, holding her possessively, as he coldly said two words: "Sleep."
Scarlett Yates once again opened her eyes wide in surprise.
She awkwardly moved forward a bit, trying to put some distance between them. She didn’t know what Matthew Saxon was thinking, but after a big argument just a few hours ago, she really wasn’t used to sleeping so intimately with him.
How could he act as if nothing had happened?
Every time she thought about the things he said, it broke her heart.
