Chapter 1115: Pressing Questions!
Chapter 1115: Pressing Questions!
Qin Xi looked at Mrs. Qin somewhat puzzled, "It’s not just me coming back, who else?""Still trying to hide it from your mom, your dad saw everything!" Mrs. Qin glared at her daughter with a teasing look.
Qin Xi felt a twinge of anxiety and asked, "What do you mean, what did Dad see?"
"Your dad came back from visiting today and saw you walking with a young man at the entrance of the community. Who is that young man? Is he chasing you? Do you like him? Where does he live? How’s his family situation..." Once Mrs. Qin started talking, it was like a river flowing incessantly, leaving no chance for others to speak.
Qin Xi felt a headache coming on, wishing she could give Ning Ze a bite. Great, this guy just arrived for a day and already caused trouble for her.
"I don’t think Xi Xi could possibly like that guy." Mr. Qin suddenly spoke.
Qin Xi looked at her father approvingly, "Dad knows me well."
"Old Qin, can you not mess things up?" Mrs. Qin glared at her husband, "So you’re saying you don’t want your daughter to get married?"
"You don’t know anything and want your daughter married off? What era is this, arranged marriages?" Mr. Qin was somewhat displeased.
Mrs. Qin snorted, "It’s not an arranged marriage; anyone who wants to be my son-in-law has to pass eighty-one tests."
Qin Xi chuckled dryly, "I say, Mom, do you think your daughter is a national treasure, and everyone wants to marry her with eighty-one tests? I bet even one random test might scare them off."
Mrs. Qin instantly felt displeased, "That just proves he’s not sincere about you. If it’s true love, he’d want to marry you even if it means going through eighty-one difficulties."
"Eighty-one difficulties is for obtaining scriptures, not for getting a wife." Qin Xi laughed.
"Alright, alright, stop going off-topic. What’s the deal between you and that guy?" Mrs. Qin pursued.
Qin Xi shrugged, "What’s there to it? Just friends."
"You girl, are you trying to make me angry? Someone is pursuing you, and you’re not happy about it. Do you want to be an old maid before you’re willing to marry? I’m telling you, it’ll be too late by then." Mrs. Qin fumed, pinching her daughter’s arm.
Qin Xi yelped in pain; how could a mother curse her daughter this way?
She had money, she had looks. So what if no one wanted to marry her?
"Don’t join the fuss; that guy looks younger than Xi Xi. It’s normal she isn’t interested in him. He might just be keen on Xi Xi’s fame; it wouldn’t be genuine." Mr. Qin suddenly said.
Mrs. Qin instantly deflated, "Younger than Xi Xi, huh? Forget it, getting excited for nothing. I’ll check if the soup’s ready; we can get ready for dinner."
Qin Xi watched her mom’s retreating silhouette, then looked at her father, suddenly feeling a bit uneasy.
Indeed, they too disapproved of her being with someone younger.
Mr. Qin seemed a bit concerned, asking, "Xi Xi, who is that guy? How did you get to know him?"
Qin Xi came back to her senses and replied with a smile, "He’s Mu Yan’s friend, just happened to be visiting relatives here, so we met once."
"Alright." Mr. Qin nodded, "Oh, when you go back, remember to bring some cured meat to Mu Yan and Chenchen; your mom prepared a lot this year."
"Okay, Mu Yan loves Mom’s cured meat." Qin Xi responded.
Mr. Qin said nothing more and went to tidy up the dining table.
Qin Xi breathed a sigh of relief, turned to head back to her room, and suddenly saw Grandma standing behind, staring at her, which startled her, "Grandma, when did you stand behind me?"
Grandma Qin gave her granddaughter a meaningful glance and then went to the kitchen.
Qin Xi watched her grandmother’s back, her heart filled with unease, always feeling that Grandma seemed to see through her thoughts.
