Chapter 30 The Weight and the Balance
Chapter 30 The Weight and the Balance
Before long, the familiar sound of the millstone rang out again, and the two halls began to alternate once more.
The Morning Palace quickly dimmed, while the Dark Palace next door gradually became clearer, like a giant beast in the night, revealing its complete body.
Li Jiuhe has now balanced the scales three times in the Morning Hall, which has actually increased his power sevenfold.
Of course, this increase in power cannot be mechanically calculated according to multiples. Rather, after breaking through to a critical point, he felt that his power would increase significantly again.
After the alternation between the two main halls was completed, Li Jiuhe checked his injuries again and found that the wounds to his heart and abdomen had healed considerably.
Even if he runs wildly now, he can't aggravate these two wounds.
Arriving at the entrance of the dark palace once again, just like last time, he pre-defined the tasks for this place before stepping inside.
Since he had already unlocked the chains of the first collapsed Buddha statue, his target this time was the second Buddha statue.
The middle Buddha statue was the largest, so he planned to leave it until last to unravel it.
Therefore, the target they were rushing towards was the broken Buddha statue on the right.
The Buddha statue did not collapse completely, but leaned against the wooden beam behind it.
Li Jiuhe's speed has now doubled, and he quickly arrived at the side of the Buddha statue. He grabbed the statue with both hands, and with a surge of power, he quickly straightened it and began to remove the chains from its body.
The chain is the same as the first Buddha statue, but it is wrapped around several more times.
As he quickly disassembled it, he heard the stone figure's voice getting closer and closer, and the chains on the stone figure rattled as they were hurled at him.
That guy had an excellent aim; he almost always hit the target.
Li Jiuhe dared not be negligent. Upon hearing the sound, he had already developed a conditioned reflex, and immediately and subconsciously shrank his head and sprang to his feet to quickly dodge.
With a bang, the stone wall behind them was pierced by the flying chain.
After the attack missed, the stone man immediately retracted the chains. Taking advantage of this opening, Li Jiuhe quickly grabbed the chains on the Buddha statue and ran in the opposite direction twice, which further unlocked the chains.
However, he still couldn't dodge the stone man's second attack. He was hit on the left shoulder, causing half of his body to lose sensation instantly, and then his head was cracked open again.
The scene before him changed. Li Jiuhe stood at the entrance of the dark hall, pondering whether he should lift the Buddha statue in advance and take out the chains pressing down on it, which might reduce the time required to unlock the chains.
Then we continued trying.
This time, he succeeded in his experiment. Before the stone man could launch his first attack after arriving, he grabbed the chains on the second Buddha statue and ran away.
After running more than ten steps, he completely unlocked the chains on the Buddha statue.
At the same moment, my body felt much lighter again, and my speed increased dramatically.
With a whoosh, he dodged the stone man's second chain attack from behind.
Li Jiuhe's confidence soared. Before the appointed time arrived, he dared not run out of the dark hall. Instead, he ran quickly within the hall, dodging the constant attacks from the stone figures.
The chain thrown by the stone figure was like a living python, attacking from different directions with varying force.
With his newly increased speed and agility, Li Jiuhe was able to dodge at first, but he gradually began to run out of energy.
The stone man, however, did not have this problem. He continued his relentless pursuit, and the chains he threw became increasingly cunning in their attack angles, their power increasing rather than decreasing.
After holding out for half an hour, Li Jiuhe was struck again, and the chain pierced his chest, killing him.
The mission was reset. He stood at the entrance of the dark hall, panting heavily, reflecting on the half hour that had just passed by the brink of death.
"If I can unlock all the chains on the last Buddha statue, the speed boost I get will definitely be enough to evade the stone man's pursuit."
Just like last time, he did not continue to enter, but waited until the two halls were about to switch places before preparing to go in.
Although time cannot be seen here, fortunately, the task he defined has a timer, which can be used to deduce the countdown between the two halls.
With twenty minutes remaining before the alternation of the main hall began, he stepped into the dark hall once more.
This time, without breaking a sweat, he not only unlocked the chains of the second Buddha statue and doubled his speed and agility again, but also managed to hold out against the stone man's pursuit until the sound of the millstone appeared.
They escaped the dark palace and watched as the two main halls began to alternate, and the morning light rose.
Li Jiuhe entered the Morning Hall once again.
He has now undergone a complete transformation, a complete metamorphosis from his former ordinary body.
The wounds on the abdomen and heart are now just scars, and the flesh and blood tissue inside the body have mysteriously recovered.
He stood before the over three-meter-tall stone figure, and without hesitation, he gripped the ground firmly, bent down, and embraced the enormous weight with both hands, shouting, "Rise!"
Suddenly the weight moved, and he picked it up steadily.
At the same time, Li Jiuhe looked up at the stone figure in front of him and found that he indeed did not make any response.
It seems that if I tried to lift the weight when I was not strong enough, I would anger the stone man. But now that I am strong enough to lift the weight, the stone man will not be angered and will not be resurrected.
Once he was certain the stone man wouldn't come back to life, Li Jiuhe immediately turned around and placed the enormous weight on one of the pans of the balance scale.
He then piled the bronze incense burners onto the tray on the other side.
Before long, all the incense burners were piled up, but even so, the tray on the side of the weight remained firmly in place, clearly indicating that the weight difference between the two was still significant.
After a moment's hesitation, Li Jiuhe stepped onto the platform himself.
With his added weight, the tray on this side finally moved slightly, and the tray on the other side of the scale slowly tilted up, and the balance began to tilt towards Li Jiuhe and the incense burner.
Just as the scales were about to reach equilibrium, the tilting angle suddenly stopped.
Even though Li Jiuhe was standing on one end of the tray and couldn't observe from the best angle, he still knew that the weight side was heavier and the scales couldn't be balanced yet.
With a click, the balance scales stopped moving.
A familiar cold snort came from the three-meter-tall stone mouth. Li Jiuhe didn't even look at it before jumping off the tray and turning to run away.
After the stone man came to life, he reached out and lifted the heavy weight on the tray. He didn't even take a step to chase after Li Jiuhe, but instead threw the weight far away.
Li Jiuhe's speed is now astonishing; he can sense something approaching even without turning around.
Without a doubt, it must be that huge weight that flew in.
Li Jiuhe immediately stopped and quickly changed direction, running towards the back of the main hall.
Unexpectedly, the flying weight seemed to have a location sensor, turning in mid-air and still heading straight for him.
Li Jiuhe changed speed once again, the weight on his head getting closer and closer, and he continued to change speed at an extremely fast pace.
A few seconds later, it crashed down and hit the target squarely.
