Chapter 46 Trap
Chapter 46 Trap
Li Jiuhe quickly descended the stairs to the small garden on the first floor.
People from part of the apartment complex were gathered here, while police sirens could be heard from the street in the distance.
He stood in the crowd and looked around. Although most people were only wearing one or two layers of clothing this season, exposing the back of their necks, the crowd was so large that he couldn't find anyone with a triangular pattern on the back of their neck.
If Gao Jingting had severed the trailman's connection with his two accomplices, he probably wouldn't have guessed that his accomplices were still upstairs, and another one was on the dispatch vehicle.
So he may have already left, or he may be standing somewhere, looking lost, with other onlookers.
Even if it's in a crowd, it still takes some effort to find it.
Just then, Li Jiuhe seemed to sense something and looked up at the Erqi Morning Bell floating in mid-air and the stone figures guarding the two sides.
Something seemed to stir within him; this was the feedback from the morning bell on the 27th.
Following that vague feeling, he turned his head to look to his right and saw a person standing on the periphery of a group of people who were talking.
This person has an ordinary appearance; the kind of person you wouldn't notice if you threw them into a crowd.
He didn't join the discussion, but stared blankly up at the seventh floor.
If it weren't for the feedback from Li Jiuhe through the Morning Bell of the Second Seventh Day, he wouldn't have noticed this person at all.
Li Jiuhe approached discreetly and stood behind him, trying to see if there was a triangular mark on the back of his neck.
But because the person was looking up with their head tilted back, their neck was squeezed together, and they couldn't see anything.
Li Jiuhe patted the guy on the shoulder, and the man snapped out of his daze and turned to look.
In that instant, Li Jiuhe clearly saw a triangular pattern on the back of his neck.
The pattern is not regular, but crooked and twisted, resembling a triangle, and looks like a birthmark.
Li Jiuhe directly pressed the silver-corroded dagger against the man's back, and with a little force, the tip of the blade pierced through his clothes and pressed against his flesh.
The man felt a sharp pain in his back and tried to resist, but Li Jiuhe immediately lowered his voice and said, "Move again and I'll stab you until you're bleeding!"
The man froze, then stopped resisting.
Li Jiuhe continued, "I'm from the Wangchuan City Investigation Bureau. Your two accomplices are dead. Now... come back to the Investigation Bureau with me."
The man looked confused, seemingly unaware of what Li Jiuhe was talking about.
But a few seconds later he realized that his relationship with his accomplices had been reconnected at that moment.
His eyes lit up slightly: "Dead? Are they really dead? Are your people alright?"
Seeing that he seemed quite happy, Li Jiuhe became suspicious and pulled the pursuer to a secluded corner.
"What is your relationship with them?"
The guy immediately explained, "I was coerced by them! These two are ruthless killers; if I didn't work for them, they would kill me too!"
No wonder! Li Jiuhe had seen this guy's file before, which said that the tracker was only interested in money and wouldn't be so ruthless as to treat human life like dirt.
He had been wondering about this too, because the way the other party set up the trap and killed his colleague was clearly both cunning and cruel.
Was this guy really being coerced?
Li Jiuhe couldn't immediately believe him: "Why would they want you to do that?"
The tracker said, "I don't know either. They wanted to steal a command vehicle from the Wangchuan City Investigation Bureau, so they asked me to use my tracking and counter-tracking abilities to attract the Bureau's attention, so they could arrest me and then steal the car."
"Steal the command vehicle?" Li Jiuhe wondered, recalling the dispatch vehicle that had just left.
Why did these people want to steal the command vehicle? They even went so far as to use their trackers to set up a trap!
"Who are those two people?" Li Jiuhe asked again.
"All I know is that they're from the neighboring city of Hezhou, and they're ruthless. That's all I know," the tracker quickly explained. "I'm a victim too, and I'm definitely not with them. Even if you gave me a hundred lives, I wouldn't dare kill an investigator!"
Li Jiuhe was skeptical, then asked, "If the Investigation Bureau wanted to work with you on a project, would you be willing?"
The tracker nodded eagerly: "Yes, of course I'm willing! As long as you believe I was also coerced by those two guys, and that I didn't kill the investigator, I'll do whatever you ask!"
Li Jiuhe nodded and released the silver-corroded dagger he had been holding back against the pursuer.
What this guy just said is probably true, and his behavior is similar to the background check the Bureau of Investigation conducted on him.
We now have a general understanding of the situation here.
Without further hesitation, Li Jiuhe initiated the mission reset.
……
The world spun around him, and the scene before him suddenly changed. Li Jiuhe's body trembled slightly as he regained his senses.
He was back to the time when he was sitting in Xu Wei's car, just after arriving at this apartment area.
Just to be on the safe side, when he and Xu Wei first arrived at the apartment complex, he had already habitually defined the upcoming operation by the Investigation Bureau to successfully apprehend the trackers as a mission.
However, this mission was somewhat different from his previous missions because he knew that he and Xu Wei were only there to assist. Therefore, the mission was not defined by Li Jiuhe capturing the tracker himself, but rather by assisting other colleagues in capturing the tracker.
Therefore, the level displayed in the mission information at that time was not high, but only I-level C, and even the rewards given were relatively small.
This was a mission only one level higher than the "Yao Yujie Ghost Incident" mission, so Li Jiuhe didn't take it too seriously and thought that there would probably be no problem with this mission.
Unexpectedly, they suddenly encountered that mysterious, thin man with powerful sequencing abilities, who instantly killed all the people in the car guarding the back.
So even though he didn't die, and even managed to catch the pursuer after the investigation, almost all of his other colleagues were killed, which was something Li Jiuhe couldn't accept.
He must reset the mission to save his colleagues' lives.
Otherwise, although the two guys' plan failed because of my arrival, the Bureau of Investigation suffered heavy losses as a result.
In an emergency, Li Jiuhe and Xu Wei arrived at the apartment area. After they got on the dispatch vehicle, they hadn't even had a chance to say a few words to Liu Qian when the apartment exploded.
This indicates that the accident had already occurred in the apartment, and the investigators there were experiencing misfortune.
Because soon the dispatcher will encounter that skinny man who can kill with just a glance.
We are now racing against time.
Before the car had even come to a complete stop, Li Jiuhe immediately said to Xu Wei in the driver's seat, "Something's wrong. There's a problem with this operation. Team Leader Liu Qian must stop the operation immediately!"
After saying that, to Xu Wei's surprise, he opened the car door, jumped out, and ran towards the dispatch vehicle not far away.
